The covid weight

written on 11/24/2021 at my desk during some work down time.

Sometimes the weight is very heavy. Sometimes it's a bit of a burden. Sometimes it feels like the weight of covid is on my shoulders. On the one way I deal with those who are still fearful to do ANYTHING; to leave their homes, to travel, to touch a doorknob in public, to see their family for fear of being exposed. On the other hand, there are those who are anti vaccines/anti maskers/"you're taking my human rights away"/"it's all fear mongering from the government"/use ivermecticin (or other non FDA approved treatment)/the virus is all a hoax/"i don't need the vaccines!!!!

And you wonder why morale of healthcare workers is at an all time low while depression/anxiety/PTSD in healthcare workers is at an all time high. Many have walked away from the profession all together with no intentions of returning. Yeah, the covid weight is very heavy. So we're still going pressing onward and forward while trying to fight the different outlets and voices demanding our immediate attention. All the while yearning for a SLIGHT semblance of normalcy and the day when normal life as we knew it before covid will resume. If you see a healthcare worker, thank them. We're exhausted. Many of us are looking forward to time off this upcoming holiday season (was VERY thankful to have Thanksgiving and Black Friday off). Many of us, however, will not be so lucky as some will have to sacrifice another day of no Thanksgiving dinners with the family or missing children and family unwrapping gifts on Christmas. But nevertheless, when asked to answer the call of duty, we will. Unabashedly.

Be safe. Be well. Be kind.
