Doing the thing
2 days ago I got the first of 2 covid vaccines.
I will admit, it has not been an entirely enjoyable last 2 days so far. I have had a few side effects from the vaccine; headache, nauseous, some chills yesterday and my arm is still pretty sore with some burning at the site noted as well. Feeling pretty tired today too, even though I slept quite a bit. But in the end it's worth it, knowing I am protecting myself and those I took an oath to care for and my family and friends. We will see how the next one goes in the beginning of February!
I've also made some other work changes. After some encouragement from my boss, I have decided to pursue my CARN certification. CARN stands for Certified Addictions Registered Nurse. I will still maintain my PMN-BC certification until it expires next year, but the CARN certification is more pertinent to the field I want to continue the rest of my career in. I took 1 part of a review class yesterday and will take the second part in a couple of weeks. I haven't applied or registered for my test yet, but that will happen sometime this week. I'm looking forward to this next step in my path as a nurse and I know it will be a good thing for me. I just hope I pass the darn test!
