Vacation reflections, part 1

I'm off of work for a much needed vacation. I go back on Monday. Other than holidays and one day in June, I hadn't taken any time off. I could tell it was starting to get to me. I was losing focus, getting snappy with some co-workers and getting easily frustrated. Plus, I had made plans to visit my sister in Kentucky before covid started, and well, I wasn't going to let covid take that away from me. I flew out last Saturday and returned early Wednesday morning. A short visit, yes, and even my boss said she had hoped I had more time with them. But when you live far away from your family, any time spent with them is better than no time at all.

Things at work have been kind of hectic, not going to lie. We got a new DOC program that will mean starting MAT in some of our local prisons. Listen, this is truly a wonderful thing, but there are still lots of small kinks to work out, thus resulting in losing our primary provider's regular hours until this program gets up and running. In the meantime, we've hired a temporary replacement who just started last week and we all really like him. Starting next month, his schedule will change and our primary provider will have even less hours with us due to this program, so we're not sure if that means our schedules are changing on the temporary too. And we have no idea how long it's going to take to get this program up and running for good. Another one of our providers will too be returning to the office once a month. So needless to say, as much as we are excited about this new program, we're ready for things to be back to normal....well, our new normal. Most of our client visits are still done tele-health; again, we have no idea when we will be resuming all appts back onsite. Worcester, Shrewsbury (where I live), Marlborough (where I go to church) are all in the red for covid, which means cases are starting to trend back up. So back to just work, home, online church and groceries and maybe the occasional friend visit until cases go back down.

I really wish I could take another week off, to be honest. I don't think I'm ready to go back on Monday. More on that on the next post (part 2...lots going on...)
