The fastest year
As Dr. Greene's father (from the TV show ER) said as he was near death; "my, it's been the fastest year." Boy, it sure has been! When I think about what 2018 has brought me, it's like I'm on a tilt-a-whirl. Lots of ups and a few downs, starting with the passing of my grandpa, my Pooie, in April. It was an unexpected tragedy, but thankfully he passed in the most peaceful way...in his sleep. In the 93 years of life he blessed us all with, I'm thankful for all that he taught me and who he was. I miss him still and think of him often. 2018 I found myself hanging up my travel nurse shoes and returning to permanent employment again, and let me tell you every massive pay cut has been worth it. I am so privileged to work alongside some of the best nurses I have ever worked with (and am currently helping one who just started along the way). It's so nice to go into work and never feel terrified, because no matter what, I've got the best crew ever. Not to mention I'm also well taken care of too!
2019 will be my first full year in Massachusetts and I've already been presented with several opportunities to grow as a nurse. Sometime this year I'll be training to pick up the gauntlet (be in charge), so stay tuned for that. Also, I got an email a few days ago from the credentialing company from where my Certification came from, inviting me to apply to be a part of a panel to reset and recreate the standards for the very Certification I still hold. It's in August in Maryland (all paid for) and I have until the end of this month to finish applying. And they're only selecting TEN nurses to be a part of it. No pressure, right?
Another year has just begun, but as I have said for the last few years, I believe the best has yet to come! I don't think my best years are behind me. In fact...I think it's just the beginning!
