Pattern of holding patterns

Survived my first "Nor'easter" as termed in the news this past week. Approximately 6 inches of snow where I live, coupled with rain later on in the day and wind. So much wind. All the wind. I parked my car up at the top of my driveway Wednesday night, bracing for the impact that was to come. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical that anything was actually going to happen, but come around 8:00 that night, the snow started falling and did not stop until the next afternoon. Trudged up my driveway at quarter to 6 in the morning to find my landlady and her husband were digging out their driveway and my car! A typically 20ish minute commute took twice as long; the roads were clear, but it's just precautionary to drive slower. Once at work, the power went off twice and half the staff lost access to our electronic EMAR's and charting system (I managed to be spared, having not logged off before the power went out). Downtime papers were about to be distributed and then access was restored. Meanwhile, 2 days later and there's still snow on the ground; not to mention it's quite cold today.

Applied for an extension a few weeks ago and still haven't heard anything yet. I keep hearing that it seems likely and that it's probably going to happen. I've been told that I am in fact needed, but it's just a matter of hearing an official yes or no. If not, then I've only got 5 weeks left. One of my friends from nursing school just started the travel nursing world, and I told her to enjoy as much as possible, because the time goes by so quickly. It really does. I'm not ready to leave here yet, but if it's so, then it's so. I could always come back. If given the opportunity, I would. Yet at the same time, I miss home, a lot. So many things are going on and I feel like I'm missing out on them. Regardless, I will be going back home for a bit next month, whether I'm returning back here to Mass or staying in KY for a while. I've already decided I'm taking a bit of a break in between assignments. I need it. I didn't have a lot of time to enjoy being home before moving up here, not to mention my house is in total shambles after sis moved out. Ok, maybe not total shambles...

Now to figure out what to do with my weekend off, since it appears I have a free evening...
