#shespeakstruthtoherself

The above hashtag is the name of my friend's third book, titled She Speaks Truth to Herself. I can't remember when it's going to be released, but check it out! This morning, she wrote a challenge for fellow writers to write a letter to yourself. Make it honest, brutally honest and truthful. Here's mine below.

Dear Kelly,

If someone told you 10 years ago you would be called to become a nurse, I would have said you were crazy. If during your nursing education you would be called to work with the mentally ill, I would have laughed in your face. But here you are, almost 3 years into this. The road outlined has been full of bends, peaks and valleys, but it has bore much fruit. MUCH fruit. Lessons learned about patients, co-workers, and all the while some beautiful friendships have developed all based under this commonality that we are just trying to meet a need in this community. A need that is often mistaken, trampled over and severely misunderstood. You've thought about throwing it all away due to some hard days, and now you are at a crossroad where you are wondering if this is the road you want to continue pursuing. You've applied for a few jobs, had an interview, but it turned out to not be what you expected it to be. How will you know what to do next? The answer...you already know. You already know the answer. Just trust Him! He has not led you astray thus far!

It's summertime now, and the number of patients is low, which has given you the opportunity to take care of yourself. Yes, that pesky foot pain you should have dealt with long ago, but...it is what it is. You're learning that now, aren't you? Answers will come soon, my friend, just keep the faith. Keep spending time with those you love; don't isolate yourself. Don't push them away; seek them out when you are feeling discouraged. Seek God out too, for the answers while you are waiting are within the tender words of Scripture. You've got this!

Love, me
