The Adventure Begins
Yesterday evening at 6:30, while out eating dinner in Richmond with my sister and roommate, I received the phone call that will ultimately change my life.
I was offered a position at my dream job and I accepted it!!!!
Granted, it's only part time, but it's a start and it's a PAYING JOB! I am so excited to begin this journey as a registered nurse! Ironically, I had an interview scheduled for this morning at another facility but ended up canceling it upon accepting the job. I went in this morning to start paperwork and ended up going across town for my new employee physical. I had to go to an urgent care center, and I must say, for being "urgent" I had to wait a LONG time. Shew when I was in the ER last year I didn't even have to wait as long as I did today! Note to self. Anyway, I go in for my first day of orientation on Monday, which last two weeks, and once my background check and Child Abuse Registry clears I will start working! Tentatively I will start around the first of August.
Ya'll, let me tell you, I was getting worried, frustrated and discouraged. But on Tuesday, I REALLY started trusting God and stopped putting a time stamp on when I would hear something. And look what happened. Seriously, it's God and God alone! God didn't just give me a job; He gave me my DREAM JOB! I am not deserving of this job, but thanks be to Him that I have it. The search is finally over! I have pulled out all my applications that I can...and actually received a rejection this morning. But in happenstance, another application I put in on Monday got sent on...at a mental health facility in Corbin. Shucks. Their loss. What's weird though was that I interviewed at the Ridge five weeks ago! When I interviewed, I expressed interest in working day shift (they still do 8 hour shifts) but was open to anything. Apparently they were waiting for a day shift to open up, but then this one that I took came up. It's not day shift, but it's not night! It's...right in between! Part of me is still in somewhat of a state of shock, but this is really happening! I'm on an adventure; the working world!!! It's been a long time coming, but I am ready....and a bit scared of what is to come. And instead of using Martin Freeman to describe how I'm feeling, I'm going to use Benedict Cumberbatch today. Cheers! Thank you to EVERYONE who has supported me on the way! I am eternally grateful!
