And the student is no more!
This morning, upon logging onto my computer, I received this notice from the Kentucky Board of Nursing:
"5/30 RECVD NCLEX RESULTS, A LICENSE WILL BE ISSUED ON JUNE 3RD"
Yes! I PASSED the boards on the FIRST ATTEMPT!!!! The girl, who struggled with standardized tests her entire life is NEVER AGAIN going to take a standardized test again!!! I've deleted all my NCLEX test bookmarks on my computer, and my study books will soon find a new home somewhere in my apartment, unfortunately, probably never to be opened again. But it's worth it. It's SO worth it!! So what's next for me? I'm not sure. Still on the job hunt; hoping to hear something soon. At this time, I would like to take the opportunity to recognize some special groups of people.
Thanks be to God first and foremost! He was the one who started me on this crazy journey in the first place! There were many times where I felt that this would not be possible, but His still small voice kept whispering in my ear all the wonderful accomplishments that were to come. Before the test yesterday, I retreated to myself for a few minutes and prayed. I just prayed "God, just work. Work in me, through me and for everyone else who's in there testing too." And that was it. Simple. God is SO GOOD all the time and it's because of Him that I am where I am right now.
My nursing faculty, staff, peers and friends. My class started out with 30 some students; 13 walked across the stage almost four weeks ago. As of now, 6 out of those 13 (myself included) have taken the boards and too have been successful in passing. We spent the last 2 and a half (+ or -) years together growing, learning, bickering, but nonetheless learning to work with each other and build each other up. We all came from different walks of life, but we all walked out with a common goal; to become registered nurses and develop into professional healthcare providers who just want to make a difference in this crazy world! And of course I can't forget my wonderful and fierce educators. I'm sure at times some of them thought we were lost causes. Yet they never gave up on us...on me.
My church family and family and friends from near and far. I've been attending Berea Baptist from the very beginning, before my nursing classes started. I knew that there was something special about that church the minute I walked through the front door and said "there's a lot of people here." And now? I've been in the church choir for 4 years and have grown to know and love a lot of wonderful individuals who love the Lord just as much as I do! And of course I could not have made it ANYWHERE without my wonderful and awesome parents, family and wonderful friends! You all had to put up with me and my crazy studying, my sometimes crappy moods, and rambling about stuff that never made sense to you. Yet you supported my decision because you knew this is what God called me to do and what I wanted to do.
To those who thought I wouldn't get very far because I "couldn't" do this or that, including myself: YOU'RE WRONG!!! And to those who are discouraged because you're telling yourself or others are telling you you can't do it or you won't make it: THEY'RE WRONG!!!
Thank you to ALL of my unofficial mentors and cheerleaders out there! You all are AWESOME and gave me the hope and strength to keep going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And of course thanks be to God for putting you all in my life! I love you all! I DID IT!!! I'M A REGISTERED NURSE!!!!

CONGRATS!!!! I knew you could/would do it. Way to show people...that God and you are the only ones who can define you and what you do in life. You will make a great nurse! =)
ReplyDeleteJust now seeing this...don't get on here as often as I used to! But thanks Alicia! You were one of my biggest influences when you were a TA! Hope you're doing well! :)
