A garden, prezi, and a free day!
Nothing much on this week's blog/report/me keeping myself updated and reflecting on how much I have changed as a nursing student getting ready to progress into the real world of nursing. 7 MORE MONTHS on the 5th...not that I'm keeping track. Anyway, Thursday was...interesting. I made a Prezi about a garden with the help of my fellow copadre who has been like a big brother to me.
Hey! I made this!
Anyway, so that took the majority of the morning trying to get that sorted out. And of course there were flaws; faulty internet connection, pictures not cooperating, technical difficulties, background colors, shew!! Though it didn't seem like it was nursing clinicals, it is. The three of us were actually talking in length about this (I think I may have mentioned this last week...) Ok, no I didn't. But we were talking about the different parts of nursing. My friend is super big on "hands on, hands on hands on and that's how we should learn." Sure. I agree....for the most part. I also think that sometimes observing (key word sometimes) can provide many avenues for learning as well. And sometimes....we're not going to do "nursing" things. Nursing to me is SO MUCH MORE than just hands on hands on hands on; there's more to being a good nurse than doing good skills. In my opinion a good nurse is one who has not only done a lot of things but seen a lot of things and LEARNED a lot of things by seeing and not just doing a lot of things. Some of the greatest things I have learned in my nursing school career have been how the nurse interacts with patients. Ok, I'm getting off my soapbox. In a few weeks we'll be doing a health fair. I'll be sure to try and sneak in a few pics if I can.
Saturday was nice. I cleaned my apartment, slept in till 9:30, went to my favorite place and got coffee (it was national coffee day!!!). Oh, and I didn't go to clinicals. Send good vibes that my instructor gets better! And I start in the newborn nursery this week! The next week I have a day off. And the week after that is going to be SO SMASHING I might smash into a million happy pieces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
