STAR: Stop, Think, And Respond. You all learned a new acronym today. Congratulations :]
I only have one week of clinicals to blog about...yay! Very incredibly thankful for this week being fall break, because I was spared having to get up at 4AM on Tuesday. Actually, I was going to blog on Friday, but then...well, then I was going to blog on Saturday, but then I had to....ok, you know what? Here's what happened; I had what you would call a lazy weekend. In other words...didn't do a THING. So now it is Sunday and I am blogging now. There, I spared you all a stupid excuse as to why this blog was not done earlier.
Anywho, I only had my psych rotation this week and I was back on the adult addictive unit. The census was back up again, so the unit was re-opened (there were 13 patients on the unit. I believe I posted last week that the unit was closed due to a low census). The morning started off with goals group at 9:00, which occurs right after breakfast. Surprisingly, it was the highest group attendance I have seen since I started doing my rotation there...10 patients!!! woohoo!!!!!!!!!!! However, one group member fell asleep....and proceeded to start snoring. He was woken up eventually, a little embarrassed nonetheless, but then he engaged and participated as the other members did.
Nothing really happened much this week...except for the last hour on the floor me and a fellow student got off our units (she was in the same unit I was in last week) and went to the assessment part of the facility. The only assessment that was going on...we were "discouraged" to go in and sit in because "he's just really mad." So, instead of maybe sitting in on an assessment, I sat...in assessment, drank a Fanta, and stared. Stared at the camera screens, the clock, and "The Honey Badger Don't Care" picture on an employee's desk and the "Unique" picture by the employee mailboxes (I have posted such picture at the end of this blog). Then it was lunchtime, we had our circle talk and then we left. Nothing much really, like I said.
Coming up this week: LAST DAY OF GETTING UP AT 4AM on Tuesday (holla!!!) and my last rotation for psych. I will be on the Adult unit, so we'll see how that goes. Thanks for reading. Cheers!
