Day 1: Baby steps
The date is February 8, 2011. I have officially begun my career as a novice nursing student. I tell you; it was such a range of thoughts racing through my head 12 hours ago...that's when it all started. It was freezing cold, and I was waiting for another girl in my group to come pick us up.
The venue: a local nursing home and rehabilitation facility. The first thing I said when we pulled into the parking lot: "this is a beautiful place." And beautiful it was, and it was NOTHING like I expected. Everything was so spic-and-span...and clean!!! It was so clean; I was in amazement.
I really can't disclose much else about my first experience because I met a lot of people, and for privacy sake I choose not to reveal their names, as well as my client I will be caring for for the next few weeks. When I first walked into the room all I could think about was not making a fool of myself. All I can close with that this experience will truly be a challenging one. I in my prime have a lot to learn, but I feel I have learned so much already. I am looking forward to this experience and the challenges and joys that will truly come. To God be the glory!
